INFORMING PUBLIC POLICY When you study with us, you’ll join a vibrant community of academic leaders informing community debate and influencing public policy. Marian Baird, Professor of Work and Organisations, is a leading researcher in the field of women, work and family and industrial relations. Her work has been used by the Productivity Commission, businesses and unions to inform policy change and improve practices in the workplace. ‘Our research directly informed the introduction of paid parental leave in Australia,’ says Professor Baird. As the Director of the influential Women and Work Research Group, Professor Baird leads research into the impact of women in the workforce. ‘The lack of women in senior management and on boards is the hot topic in Australian business today,’ says Professor Baird. ‘I plan to set up a research project that investigates the most judicious way of improving women’s participation in senior business positions.’ Like all our academics, Professor Baird leads the debate, in the classroom and in the community.
